Kick off of RASAST (Ruhla Adatia Sood Animal Support Trust)
This past Saturday night was the kick off for the Rahila Adatia Sood Animal Support Trust, or RASAST.
It was held at the lovely Zen Gardens. They were very gracious hosts for the event. It appeared to be a sellout crowd! The place was packed.
There were many, many raffle prizes given away; from pet grooming at Very Impawtant Pets, vouchers for pet spay/neuterat Dr Cockar Vet Clinic to vouchers for dinners, to overnights at Tribe Hotel, Hemminways and Naboisho Mara Camp! Even I had a lucky ticket and received a beautiful piece of art which will go on the wall today! They had several great DJ’s that kept us entertained throughout.
The RASAST fund was established to keep the memory of Ruhila alive in a way she would have appreciated. Ruhila and her unborn child lost their lives in the Westage Attack, nearly a year ago. She was at Westgate covering an event there for her work at a local radio station. During her life she was a great supporter of animal welfare, caring for neglected and abused animals.
The RASAST has been established to advocate for the protection and prevention of cruelty of animals.
Funds raised by RASAST will initially go towards funding and training another Inspector for KSPCA and another vehicle to assist in making KSPCA more mobile and responsive for rescuing sick or injured animals. The additional vehicle will also enable them to investigate complaints of abuse or cruelty more quickly! They will assist in an ongoing fund for food for the animals housed at KSPCA as well. In the future they will distribute funds and support to other animal welfare groups in Kenya to ease the burden a bit. They will also undertake some educational projects in Kenya to help a new generation understand how to care for animals and appreciate the benefits of having animals in our lives.
If you missed the big launch party, it’s not too late. You may still donate to show your support.
